Twined-woven bag by Linda Coombs
"This bag was made by twining which is a method of hand weaving that utilizes a double weft, which is either single- or double-twisted (depending on the design) around the single warp fibers. This method has been used to make bags and baskets by the Wampanoag people for thousands of years. Various plant fibers such as milkweed, dogbane, and false nettle were hand-spun into cordage and dyed into shades of red, yellow, or black. These were woven along with natural colored strands to produce containers of all sizes for food storage, tools, utensils, clothing, etc. Bags were usually woven round or in an envelope shape."
