from the collection of Kenneth Hamilton

Left: Small brass kettle from Vermont
This kettle is exactly the size of some of the smaller, excavated models. This type of "ear" (where the handle passes through) has been identified as mid-1600s.
Right: Birch bark bowl, marked 1760
Although this birch bark bowl was made well after the 1690s, it is nevertheless typical of the era. Notice the fine spruce root lashing on rim, reminiscent of canoe manufacturing.
