"We're Still Here" Online Exhibit
Contemporary Indigenous New England Artists
About the Exhibit
The exhibit, "We're Still Here: Contemporary Native American Art from New England," was planned in conjunction with the 2005 University of New Hampshire powwow, Sept. 24-25.
Several New England Native artists were invited to participate in the exhibit; their work included basketry, leatherwork, woodcarving, beadwork, silver jewelry, weaving, and quilting. Historic artifacts were used to interpret the historic Oyster River Raid of 1694, and historic baskets were displayed with contemporary baskets to illustrate the influence of traditional methods.
Below are photos of the installation as it was displayed in the UNH gallery.
